The Los Angeles Rams’ four-game streak of being the favourites is finally over as they travel to CenturyLink Field this Thursday to take on the venue’s residents: the Seattle Seahawks.
In the Week 5 curtain raiser, the Seahawks have been installed as 1.5-point favourites, meaning that the Rams are officially the underdogs for the first time in this young season.
Another first for the Rams under Sean McVay is that they are currently not at the top of NFC West. They were dealt the opening loss of the season last week by the Buccaneers, which means that their 3-1 record is inferior to the undefeated 49ers who sit at the top of the table.
Even though the Rams had shown some signs in the preceding game weeks, the 55-40 defeat on the Rams’ own turf last week was still a shocker. The architect of their defeat was their defense, which just couldn’t control Tampa Bay quarterback Jameis Winston, who was allowed 385 yards and a quartet of touchdowns.
Well-coached sides like Rams do not go limp in just one season. They will or should recover and play better than this, but they won’t canter to the divisional title again. That much is clear this time.
The Seahawks, meanwhile, looked quite solid if not dominant last week in the 27-10 win at the Cardinals. Russell Wilson was Russell Wilson but the difference maker was under pressure running back Chris Carson, who showed marked improvement, rushing for 104 yards and did not turn the ball over even once.
About Wilson, he completed 22 of his 24 passes but was sacked four times. He’d have to be more careful against the Rams, who can exploit the chink in the Seahawks’ armour.
Both the teams were in action this Sunday, which means that they have limited time to recharge their batteries for the midweek game. This is where Seattle are at a bit of a disadvantage as they are dealing with several injuries. The Rams have a relatively clean bill of health.
Rams vs Seahawks Betting Prediction:
The Rams are healthier, in desperate need of a win after last week’s debacle but most importantly, they have beaten the Seahawks seven times in their last 10 meetings.
